Studio Policies

ATTENDANCE AND ARRIVAL
  • Regular attendance is required to ensure that dancers keep pace with the syllabi and do not delay instruction for other class members.  You should notify the office of absences as soon as you are aware that there will be one.  You should also notify the office when the dancer is absent due to a communicable illness.
  • Students are expected to arrive early dressed and with hair ready before class.
  • Students arriving more than 10 minutes late may not be permitted to join and will be asked to observe. When students arrive late, they do not have the benefit of warming up and are more susceptible to injury.  Late students should ask the teacher for permission to join a class that has already started by waiting just inside the classroom door.
  • Children ages 8 and under MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian or known adult when entering or exiting the building. Students may not wait outside for their ride.
  • Students must wear appropriate cover ups when entering and exiting the building.
  • If students arrive early, they should wait in the lobby for their instructor.  The Austin City Ballet is not responsible for providing care before or after class.  If a student is left at the studio unattended for over 15 minutes, a fee may be charged to your account.  If extenuating circumstances prevent you from coming on time, please call the studio.

ABSENCES, HOLIDAYS AND CANCELLATIONS
  • When a class is missed, the student may take a make up class at or below their class level. Make-ups must happen in the semester they are missed.  Students with injuries are encouraged to observe their class when able.
  • No refund or credit is given for missed classes.
  • In the event that classes are canceled due to inclement weather, there will be either make-up days, credit, or refunds provided at the discretion of ACB.  ACB generally follows the Austin ISD and Round Rock ISD decisions on class cancellations.  However, we will also notify families of cancellations via email and will post a notice on the website.
  • The Austin City Ballet is closed for Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving week, Winter Break, Spring Break and Memorial Day.

CLASS CHANGES
  • To request a class change, please contact the office.  Do not request class changes through the instructor.

WITHDRAWAL
  • Notification of intent to withdrawal must be made in writing and submitted to the office.  Informing the instructor or calling the office are not formal withdrawals.
  • After the first 4 weeks of class, you will be responsible for the balance of the tuition for the ½ year in which the request is submitted.  Within the first four weeks of class you will be responsible for a pro-rated amount.
  • There is a $30 withdrawal fee.  Registration and production fees are not refundable.
  • ACB reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. Alternative placement or refunds will be offered under such circumstance.

TUITION AND FEES
  • There is an annual registration fee of $50 per student or $75 per family due at the time of registration.  Registration fees are non-refundable.
  • School year tuition is an annual amount that can be paid on one of four different plans:  Full Tuition, Half Year Tuition, 5 installments or 10 Installments.  When paid on the 10 Installment plan, the first and last month's payments are due at registration.  The remaining installment payments are due on the first of each month September 2016 through April 2017.
  • A late fee of $15 will be assessed if tuition is not paid by the 5th.

PAYMENT
  • Payment is due on the 1st of the month in which they are due and a late fee of $15 will be assessed if you have not paid by the 5th.
  • The Austin City Ballet accepts cash, checks and credit cards.  Checks should be made out to "Austin City Ballet" and should include the students name in the memo. Online payment is also available.
  • A fee of $38 will be applied for all returned checks.
  • If your automatic payment is declined you will have until the 5th to make payment.  After the 5th you will be assessed the standard late fee.

DISCOUNTS
  • The Austin City Ballet offers a tuition discount for families with more than one child enrolled.  The child enrolled in the most classes pays the full tuition rate.  Additional children receive a 10% discount.

BEHAVIOR
  • Students should treat the instructor with respect and always follow their instructions.  Classmates should also be treated with respect.
  • No food, gum, or liquid other than water are permitted in the studio.

OTHER
  • ACB uses email as the primary method of communication.  Please make sure we have correct email addresses and check your email regularly.
  • No video, audio, cameras, or any other recording devices are allowed in the studios, with the exception of parent observation days.
  • Parents are not allowed in the studios before or after class, with the exception of parent observation days or classes requiring caregiver participation.
  • Children may be dropped from a class if their behavior interferes with safety or is chronically disruptive. We may recommend that your child be moved to a more appropriate class level if needed. Parents will be notified and consulted regarding any in-class behavioral issues or questions.
  • Unattended children are not permitted in the dance studios. The studios are not play areas.
  • Please clean up after yourself and take your belongings with you after each class. We recommend that you label everything. Lost and found items will be donated at the end of each semester with the exception of clearly labeled items. Items containing food or liquids will be disposed of weekly.
  • The Austin City Ballet Performing Arts Conservatory maintains the right to use photographs and / or video recordings of my dancer in class or performing.
  • ACB and its instructors are not liable for any injuries sustained while a student is in class or on the premises.
