The Austin City Ballet, was created out of love, passion and a commitment to the art of dance in 1991, and became a non-profit organization in 1999. Our purpose is two-fold: to bring theatrical dance to the greater Austin community through our Performing Company and to provide dance instruction through our Performing Arts Conservatory. Our Performing Company, made up of dancers ages 8 - 18, specializes in performances by children, for children, while The Performing Arts Conservatory offers training in group classes, workshops, clinics and private lessons.
We offer our dancers the opportunity to challenge themselves in a fun, exciting and inspirational environment. By providing personalized instruction, we hope to inspire well-rounded, hard-working and talented dancers with a solid work ethic and a love of dance. Students learn technique, coordination, strength, flexibility, alignment, rhythm and endurance. Through self-discipline, dedication, a positive atmosphere and constructive criticism, students gain a heightened self-esteem, body awareness and creativity, while achieving maximum fitness.
At the Austin City Ballet, each class follows a curriculum designed for a specific level of abilities. All students are pushed to their greatest potential, but while having fun, feeling good about themselves, making new friends and feeling a great sense of achievement. These benefits can be shared by all students: those taking dance for fun, exercise or for professional preparation.
In the coming years, we hope to create more community programs, expand our repertoire and original works and to provide dance scholarships to our dancers.
