The Austin City Ballet was founded in 1991, originally as The Conservatory Dance Theatre, for dance students at The Austin Conservatory of the Arts and local dance students to enjoy a pre professional performing experience. This year we celebrated our 28th birthday as the premiere training organization and serve Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Round Rock, and Georgetown.
This year ACB presents The 19th annual Austin Children’s Nutcracker to be performed at St. Andrew's Dell Fine Arts Theater, December 20-22, 2019. In the Spring, we will present "Celebrate Texas", featuring local award winning musician, singer and songwriter, Jessica Shepherd, coupled with an original, and new to ACB, children’s ballet, "The Little Mermaid", at the George Washington Carver Museum Theater, April 3-5, 2020. We will round out the performing season with the annual “Performance Project” - May 16 and 17, 2020 also at the George Washington Carver Museum Theater. Our ballet program is based on training from The Royal Academy of Dance, Vaganova, Cecchetti and Bournonville syllabi. We consider Jazz, Modern/Contemporary, Tap, and Musical Theatre to be essential for developing a well-rounded performer and we will continue to focus on providing a broad range of training choices to our students. Our dancers also benefit from guest artists and instructors who work with our company. We endeavor to educate our students in all areas of the performing arts while maintaining a fun learning environment and family atmosphere.
